Position Summary:

Harman’s Automotive Audio SBU is the global leader in the design and manufacture of OEM Branded Audio systems. The group maintains headquarters in Novi, Michigan with Product Development Centers in Germany, the USA and China. Regional Engineering Centers are maintained in close geographical proximity to our primary customers on each continent. The Audio SBU develops branded audio system solutions; amplifiers and speakers, noise management product such as ANC EOC/RNC and ESS, and components for use in unbranded or alternatively branded systems. Core competencies include transducer and amplifier design and manufacturing, DSP audio algorithms, system integration, system voicing techniques and subjective/objective benchmarking. Program execution and product quality are another strong focus for the Audio SBU.


Eligibility Requirements:

Under the supervision of engineering staff, the intern will:

•   Assist in designing and tuning audio systems for the automotive environment.

•   Investigate new audio related technologies and best practices.

•   Create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems for the automotive environment.

•     Assist in developing and documenting worldwide acoustic systems tools and best practices



•   Student seeking undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering

•   Coursework in DSP, acoustics, electrical engineering, and/or computer science

•   Experienced with Matlab, computer programming, and Microsoft Office


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work in an office.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires use of a HARMAN or customer owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.


  • Target work load 25 hours/week.  Working schedule is flexible.
