The Leadership Experience Acceleration Program (LEAP) is a two-year program designed to develop early career, high-performing talent into the next generation of HARMAN leaders through rotations in various Engineering positions. You will have 3 rotations each lasting 8 months in HARMAN’s global divisions: Connected Car, Connected Services, and Lifestyle. Each assignment brings with it a different skill set and challenge where the individual is required to be flexible and focused. LEAP Associates will benefit from global experiences across multiple businesses and functions, including a mentoring program, HARMAN University offerings, in-person group learning, virtual and self-paced programs while developing a strong peer and global network.

Job Responsibilities:

 

An Engineer knows and applies basic concepts and techniques of the profession under direct supervision and guidance. This position is responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and development of specific products and technology and for meeting all requirements and specifications set by internal Engineering teams and external customers.

  • Propose and develop innovative ideas to drive breakthrough solutions
  • Collaborate with the manager, project teams, and peers globally on critical assignments
  • Participate in global program activities that will strengthen business skills and build future leadership capabilities
  • Complete an international rotation to increase global exposure
  • Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications
  • Analyze and understand product HW design documents such as block-diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, logic and timing diagrams, etc.
  • Analyze and understand product SW design documents such as block diagrams, SW architecture and topology diagrams, timing and sequence diagrams, use-case charts, and detailed component specifications
  • Understand vehicle systems and designs and how the Head Unit interacts with other Electronic Control Units in the vehicle
  • Focus on system performance and optimizations throughout test and development cycles
  • Coordinate with System Test teams to ensure design and requirements are verified and validated
  • Lead Root Cause / Corrective Action process with product teams for issues that arise during development and test
  • Interface with Customer to be a key technical presence for project teams
  • Use hardware instruments for troubleshooting including oscilloscope, programmable power meter, logic analyzer, etc.
  • Serve as a knowledge center for teams on how to perform hardware-centric tasks such as re-flashing, board-bring-up, and hardware modifications as needed
  • Facilitate knowledge management using tools such as confluence-wiki, and Jira
  • Communicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate product development.  This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups.
  • Manages small projects and technical resources, including planning, estimating and follow through

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science;  Master's degree/MBA graduates preferred
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Geographically mobile
  • Commitment to the rotations over the length of the program
  • Strong work ethics and principles
  • Team player with a positive attitude to succeed
  • The desire to learn and develop rapidly within the program period
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented, matrixed environment
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal, written and verbal)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the command line on an Unix-based operating system
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as Python
  • Ability to check circuits with a voltmeter and oscilloscope

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 20- 50% (i.e., seminars)
  • Ability to relocate outside of the home country for one rotation (typically no longer than 8 months)
  • Willingness to work in an office
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
