Position Summary: Lead all Facilities, Fleet Services, and related activities for all HARMAN offices and workspaces in the Novi Region. This role is responsible for providing HARMAN standard workspaces that meet or exceed our requirements at all times that are safe, productive, and efficient. Work with Management to plan for future changes and requirements and adapts our workspaces to meet our ever-changing space requirements in a timely and efficient manner. Manages and prioritizes daily facility work requests. Identifies and works with Vendors who supply Facility services to our buildings.  Works with our Landlord to efficiently manage our workspaces.  Plans for and manages budgets for both operating and capital expenses. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role will manage a team (currently eleven), including Facility and Maintenance staff, Reception, Fleet Services, Mail Room, Shipping & Receiving.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day operations for 7 buildings
  • Place work order requests with NEG for any repair issue needed in their buildings (CN CW, and CE3)
  • Oversee the operations of Sound Bytes Café in CN
    • Conduct monthly meetings with Café staff and Indirect Procurement to review last months spends and talk about issues that need to be resolved or big event coming up
  • Approve all invoices for any building related items (e.g. phone bills, repair invoices, utility bills)
  • Arrange for any data wiring or GPS wiring needs that a building might need
  • Manage all seat assignments and cubical moves
  • Assist Human Resources in event setup and take down (e.g. Engineering week, Holiday party, Novi Tech Days, wellness week)
  • Manage all constructions on buildings (e.g. developing floor plans, collecting costs from contractors, writing GARNER request, run weekly construction meetings for large projects and see through completion)
  • Manage monthly assets reports for accounting for asset disposal
  • Export vehicles to Germany, Japan, Korea, Netherlands when needed
  • Obtain titles for new cars and register existing fleet cars
  • Place insurance certs in all cars on 12/1 of each when new insurance policy is renewed
  • Send out General Liability insurance certs to customers that loan HARMAN car for testing
  • Locate, purchase and sometimes write GARNER request all new test and demo cars in US
  • Prepare all US Customs paperwork when exporting a vehicle out of the US
  • Service as GM Security Captain for all high-security cars (pre-production vehicle) that GM loans HARMAN for development/testing
  • Find car lab space by moving cars around in car lab when someone needs a car lab but none are available
  • Work with insurance comp may on accidents that happen with company-owned cars
  • Run monthly fleet credit card reports for back charging fleet expenses that hit testing team cost center in NJ back to Germany


Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years leading Facilities for a large and complex office and Engineering Environment
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to understand and manage budgets, prepare spreadsheets, and expense forecasts
  • Excellent managerial skills to lead Team and interface with all levels throughout the organization and outside of the organization with Landlords, Vendors, Contractors, etc.
  • Must stay cool under pressure and resolve issues
  • Outstanding judgment
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or Customer-owned vehicle. Employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license

  • Willingness to work in an office located in Novi, MI

  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years
