Position Summary:

Responsible for all Program Management activities for product development in North America and Asia Pacific.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director, Program Management supervises a team of program managers in North America.  


Job Responsibilities:

  • Delivers all NA SBU Audio programs according to agreed targets in terms of timing, BOM cost, budget cost and quality
  • Works hand-in-hand with other geographical regions to foster teamwork, ensure proper program communication and execution.
  • Develops and manages overall Program expenditures budget (expense and capital) for all North American programs
  • Develops and manages North American Program Management Department budget
  • Actively participates in the pursuit of new business opportunities for all North American customers through the RFI/RFQ process.
  • Participates in setting strategy for proposals
  • Drives proposal estimates for program and product costing and helps ensure favorable business case
  • Participates in customer technical presentations for proposals
  • Interface to all North American OEM-customers for all aspects of technical status, program progress and product alignment
  • Maintains close program alignment with internal functional department leaders
  • Reports program status to internal executive management
  • Ensure execution of all programs according to HARMAN Project Life Cycle Management Processes (PLM)
  • Manages internal escalation process as defined by the PLM gate reviews.
  • Assigns resources to Change Management activities when appropriate (internal /external Change Control Boards)


Basic Qualifications:.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 15+ years of product development and/or Program Management experience
  • Experience working with teams in foreign countries
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment


Preferred Qualifications and Behaviors:

  • MBA preferred.
