Position Summary:

Lead the Global HALOSonic team delivering products to Automotive Customers.  Report on a solid line basis to the VP Engineering, Global Lifestyle Car Audio and on a dotted line basis to the Global Director, HALOSonic Business Development.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Leading approximately 30-40 global engineering and program management team members (indirect reports).


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Global HALOsonic team entailing systems engineering & system architects, to deploy HALOsonic products for OEM customers
  • Interface with COC to deploy new feature rollouts in demo cars and production cars
  • Technical Lead interface to Audio, Infotainment and NVH teams at OEMs, championing the application of HALOsonic technologies to serve OEMs’ active noise management needs
  • Manage engineering development for HARMAN’s Active Noise Cancellation technology portfolio. 
  • Plan and direct activities of the HALOSonic team including technical resource ramp-up, training and allocation to the program teams.  Oversee HALOSonic VAVE programs.
  • Oversee the development of software and hardware libraries, as well as the development of integrated tuning tools (internal and external).
  • Provide leadership to active noise management programs to ensure deliverables are met on time, within budget and meeting customer requirements and expectations.
  • Lead suppliers to guide the development of new devices that will be used in new designs to reduce cost, and enhance performance.
  • Manage resource levels and determine if outside resources are required to complete planned workload.  Manage selection and usage of outside resources to meet project deliverables on-time with zero defects.
  • Create design guidelines to improve project development timing and quality of product.
  • Manage customer technology engagements (pre-RFQ) and customer demo builds (RFI and RFQ stages).
  • Interface with customers both internal and external to ascertain customer satisfaction and takes appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction relative to group performance.
  • Provide support for HALOSonic marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain engineering staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.                       
  • Supervise engineering personnel through coaching, planning, monitoring, and appraising of job performance.
  • Establish and maintain annual department budget for equipment and resources.


Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  1. REQUIRED Specific Experience, Knowledge, Expertise, Coursework
  • This position requires at least 5 years of management experience, and at least 10 years of automotive industry experience in acoustics, digital signal processing and/or powertrain/vehicle NVH.
  • Specific experience in NVH design of experiments, acoustic noise cancellation, digital signal processing, acoustical engineering and/or psycho-acoustics.
  • Proven successful experience in managing global teams, and leading engineering teams greater than 25 people.
  • Ability to collaborate with innovation teams to harvest and apply new technologies to the market.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage complex software and hardware development projects to successful completion and on time
  • Knowledge of software and hardware principals and practices, ability to develop and present technical data, resolve internal and external conflicts, negotiate and resolve customer issues, communicate and motivate employees, conduct employee reviews and hire talented employees.
  • Technical expert in hardware and software development.
  • Good interpersonal skills and can interface with peers and OEM customers.
  • Self starter and self motivated.
  • Compliant to all processes and policies.
