Position Summary: This position seeks a senior level procurement professional to be responsible for a global Plastics & Faceplates procurement category. The individual will be a key contributor to the future competitiveness of a major, global direct material category for Lifestyle Car Audio.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role will manage a team of category managers in support of executing the category strategy and savings objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, conduct, and actively manage the end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement process.
  • Provide thought leadership and innovative strategies for optimizing sourcing effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and work with both corporate and regional stakeholders to standardize corporate-wide product specifications and establish and implement long-term strategic goals to continually enhance Harman’s market position.
  • Establish and execute on category goals, improvement plans, business reviews and monthly reporting
  • Execute effective supplier negotiations and event driven cost reductions to meet annual cost reduction goals
  • Lead team and drive category and sub-category strategies to achieve a world class supply base for Harman
  • Develop and execute category strategies through alignment with Harman Global Segment Leaders, Business Unites, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing activities
  • Coordinate the executive level engagement between procurement, supply chain functions and senior stake holders
  • Responsible to manage and make critical decisions on all aspects of supplier relationship including contracts, commercial / pricing, supply assurance and conflict resolution for the Global Category
  • This person will be an escalation/communication point for Harman International and the supply partner
  • Identification, establishment and development of new suppliers, supplier relationship management, supplier portfolio management and supplier performance evaluation
  • Lead the organization to behave with a sense of urgency, ensure that it is aligned globally and attracts the best talent
  • Coordinate the executive level engagement between procurement, supply chain functions and senior stake holders within the BU

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in, Strategic Sourcing and Supply Management.
  • Mechanical and plastics procurement experience preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to lead diverse global teams to achieve cost, quality, and time to market commitments
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that meet established goals and timelines
  • Expertise translating complex data into a clear and concise communication. Ability to communicate effectively at a senior executive level
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness to effectively leverage and focus resources across organizational/geographic boundaries
  • Ability to gather relevant information systematically; consider a broad range of issues or factors; grasp complexities and perceive the relationship among problems or issues; seek input from others
  • Build an effective team committed to organizational goals; foster collaboration among team members.
  • Encourage and empower others to achieve; establish challenging performance standards; create enthusiasm, a feeling of investment, and a desire to excel
  • Proficiency with procurement systems including sourcing, contract management and transactional systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong presentation and writing skills

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 25% internationally
  • Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
