Position Summary:

A system architect is responsible for providing leadership of technical activities at the system level for an automotive OEM infotainment development to not only deliver the current program but also help in the future business pursuits.  In this position, the engineer will be responsible for initial system design and development of new software or extensive software revisions, defining product requirements and creating high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems/platforms. The engineer will be responsible for fine-tuning the product to meet and exceed the existing competition’s KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the customer delivery is compliant with the design and identifies the performance and cost improvements pieces and provides a plan to achieve those goals.
  • Serve as a system architect and technical specialist for applicable customer programs
  • Support RFQ activities related to applicable customer programs
  • Resolve program technical issues. Track and resolve customer issues. Interface with both the customer and Harman Product Engineering teams to coordinate a successful resolution of these issues.
  • Support program teams with activities such as planning, estimating, and developing requirements in compliance with the established development process.
  • Serve as a technical interface to applicable suppliers. Follow up with technical action items.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies and scientific methods affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in emphasis of programs or new programs warranted by such developments.
  • Conceives plans and conducts research in problem areas or new technology of considerable scope and complexity.
  • Support internal organizations. Support for such items as product DFMEA, Schematic Reviews, Warranty, Diagnostics, DVP&R, Appearance Approvals PSO, and special investigations. Support the software/hardware/mechanical developers at the unit and system level to ensure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is achieved
  • Identify, document, and manage the risk associated with product development.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Educational requirement options:
    • Ph.D. degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering and 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research.
    • Master’s Degree in above-mentioned fields and 8 years of experience in research and development.
  • Automotive experience with preference in Infotainment or cellular.
  • Hands on experience in Linux or QNX, and/or Android.
  • Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business
  • Experience with analyzing CAN, MOST and LIN communication
  • Experience with Infotainment features such as SDARs, Bluetooth, USB, Navigation, Hands-Free
  • Excellent Knowledge of LINUX (Kernel, Drivers, Debugging)
  • Excellent Knowledge of automotive SOC Systems Architectures (ARM/INTEL)
  • Knowledge of software development processes including CMMI and ASPICE models
  • Knowledge of software planning methods and the ability to use them effectively

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good Knowledge of automotive Interfaces (Ethernet, USB, PCIe, SDIO)
  • Good Knowledge of automotive software protocols (TCPIP, AVB, USB-Profiles)
  • Knowledge of Hardware Debugging in OS-Context (Lauterbach Debugger with LINUX OS)
  • Excellent Knowledge of automotive SOC Systems Architectures (RENESAS / ARM / INTEL)
  • Good Knowledge of automotive Interfaces (Ethernet, I2C, SPI, SDIO, MOST)
  • Experience developing and debugging C/C++ software on Linux/QNX user space applications (debugging via GDB)
  • Experience developing and debugging C/C++ software on Linux/QNX kernel modules (debugging via KGDB/JTAG)
  • Experience with gcc and makefile based build process
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
  • Experience with yocto / buildroot
  • Experience with Linux device tree / acpi configuration
  • Experience with ALSA and/or Video4 Linux (V4L)
  • Good understanding of infotainment domains
  • Well organized, meticulous good at understanding the big picture.
  • Strong team player with the ability to handle multiple projects
