Position Summary:

HARMAN’s diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices.  As a member of our team, your primary role will be to help in research and development related to loudspeakers, headphones and immersive audio using our world class measurement facilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the testing and measurement and testing of headphones
  2. Participate in the listening tests related to product testing and research
  3.  Assist researchers in training listeners and conducting psychoacoustic experiments related to loudspeakers, headphones and immersive audio

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A passion for audio with good critical listening skills for evaluating audio sound quality
  • Experience or knowledge in acoustics/psychoacoustics, electronics, audio, test and measurements, setting up and calibrating audio systems
  • Matlab and MAX/MSP programming a plus
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Sophmore year or later, or graduate/Ph.D program at an accredited institution taking at least one class in the semester prior to the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
  • A future degree must be in related area of work with courses in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Math or related field.
  • Previous entry level work experience strongly preferred
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Must provide work availability from May 31, 2019 - August 18, 2019 and be able to work 30 to 40 hours per week
  • Strongly prefer candidates who live within a commutable distance
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
  • Must provide proper work authorization
