Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of mechanical concepts and functional block concepts and mechanic designs for Car Audio and Consumer systems from basic concept to readiness for final product integration under consideration of functional, performance, production and economic standpoints.
  • Desired Experience with (but not limited to):
    • Automotive: Audio Amplifier and boosters, ECU’s for Sound Synthesis and sound cancellation, loudspeaker, headrest and integrated speakers
    • Consumer: Headphones, portable Loudspeakers, Microphone Arrays, Home Entertainment Systems, Soundbars, Sensors and Actuators
  • Create 3D models, assembly drawings and component drawings of product design.
  • Perform simulation, stack-up analysis, conduct prototype build, conduct design verification
  • Utilize software tools such as FEA and mold flow analysis to confirm design integrity
  • Uses analysis techniques such as the DFMEA and/or DRBRM to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks. Develops plans to validate the robustness of product designs.
  • Stay current on innovative manufacturing processes to facilitate optimal product design using DFA and/or Design for Assembly & Manufacturing methodologyVerification of function blocks including tolerance analysis
  • Performing design reviews for each development stage to secure maturity
  • Perform Thermal Design and CAD based Thermal Design simulation
  • Technical alignment with parts supplier and partners
  • Drive cost effective design and robust design and work process                  
  • Documentation of above named systems, verification results and generation of integration guidelines to enable and secure take over in final customer products by product development organization
  • Support  the System Design team in concept creation and BOM cost assessment
  • Perform and maintain insertion of BOM of function block in HARMAN calculation tool
  • Perform Hand over and training activities to Product Development team
  • Global cooperation with all other LSA CoC departments, Product Development division as Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing during the development process
  • Realization and/or Assisting in the realization of white papers for new technologies.
  • Part-time support or perform component scouting for defined key technology and materials. Focus next generation
  • Development method according to and within an agile process environment


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering (or appropriate graduation)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the Mechanic design and verification
  • Good experience and knowledge about material (metal, plastics, high gloss, flexible material)
  • High experience in working with MCAD design tools for design realization and simulation
    (Experience in Pro Engineer is of advantage) as well as Microsoft applications
  • High experience in CAD based Thermal simulation of complex designs
  • High knowledge of the requirements inside the automotive area, especially for EMC
  • High knowledge about the requirements in the consumer market

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
  • Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA.
