Sr. Demand Planning Specialist

 The Sr. Demand Planner (DP) will work with Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing, Product management & Finance in their CSU to develop the SKU level demand plan for their CSU regions, customers and products.  This plan becomes the key input into the S&OP process that is then rolled up and bounced against the supply plan.  They will also be the conduit back to sales on supply / delivery constraints.

This position is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products, and creates and maintains forecast models for their customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, product development, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources (i.e. MI Sales Trak). The DP is the integration point into the sales and commercial organization. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales and Marketing.

Job Functions:    

  • Gather, analyze and validate data
  • Execute statistical modeling software and review resulting statistical forecast
  •  Apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting
  •  Summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts
  • Review sales plans, customer finance Budget Updates or Latest Estimates and demand drivers:
    - Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from sales, and finance
    - Recommend adjustments for operational forecasts
    - Review promotional plans with sales
  • Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with sales, marketing and finance personnel:
    - Prepare relevant material to facilitate research and discussion
  • Provide input to volume planning ( Latest Estimates / annual process)
    - Facilitate and manage demand planning/customer meetings
    - Achieve consensus with the business side and the demand chain
  • Maintain demand planning system and software
    - Enter and modify data and ensure the correctness of product hierarchy
    - Monitor trends in forecast error
    - Identify relevant market-related data and competitive intelligence
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process
  • Work with regional S&OP and Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) teams in weekly Sales Operations Execution (SOE) to adjust and prioritize Sales Orders.
  • Determine and communicate forecast confidence, including risks and opportunities, to relevant functional groups
  • Report demand forecast key performance metrics and assumptions to internal stakeholders
  • Measure, analyze, and report key process metrics and monitor adherence to key performance indicators
  • Develop, monitor and communicate reports on forecast accuracy to Business Unit and Supply Chain organizations, and drive continuous improvement
  • Execute on customer replenishment with excellence, and communicate to the Supply Chain group, opportunities and risks regarding customer replenishment performance metrics.
  • Standardize, automate and publish Available to Promise (ATP) report.

 

 

Basic Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, mathematics or a related field.  An MBA is a plus.
  • 3 years minimum experience using PC based applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
  • 3 years working in a team-based environment
  • 3 years working in a demand planning or supply chain role

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA.
