Sr. Demand Planning Specialist

Job Responsibilities:

Demand Planning

  • The demand planner will be responsible for creating a demand forecast that will be used within the consensus planning process, and is empowered to make changes to the forecast when deemed necessary.
  • Use and maintain current demand-planning systems to create the best statistical forecast possible using established processes.
  • Assess the impact of market changes or significant variances in the forecast, and recommend appropriate revisions and tactics.
  • Manage statistical forecast exceptions by utilizing demand-planning exception reports to identify and fix potential issues.
  • Collect past/future demand inputs (such as distribution gains/losses, price changes, new/discontinued products and promotion plans) from sales and marketing, and forecast/model their impacts on demand.
  • Interact with regional sales and supply chain people to understand and interpret the potential impact that market trends and demand drivers can have on demand, and adjust the statistical forecast to reflect those impacts.
  • Make recommendations to enhance business processes, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Determine and communicate forecast confidence, including risks and opportunities, to relevant functional groups.
  • Measure, analyze and report key process metrics, and monitor adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop, monitor and communicate reports on forecast accuracy to business unit and supply chain organizations, while driving continuous improvement.


Demand & Supply Analytics

  • Manage and report the supply constraints and coordinate with global supply and Regional Sales & Marketing teams
  • Work with Supply planner to ensure weekly supply is aligned to customer demand.
  • Monitor/manage supply by working with global team to push, pull or cancel POs based on demand variability 
  • Creation, management, measurement and continual improvement of analytic forecasting process.
  • improve accuracy of Statistical forecast methods to shift into forecast model of Statistical and expert judgement model
  • Present recommended monthly forecast adjustments and assumptions to cross-functional S&OP team to achieve consensus forecast.  Utilize fact-based approach to challenge assumptions inconsistent with brand strategy and highlight risks and opportunities.  Ensure agreements are incorporated into operational plans.
  • Other projects which may be assigned.



Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or Operation management related field
  • CPIM certification or equivalent would be advantages.
  • 3-7 years of applicable Supply Chain Planning, preferably demand forecasting and inventory management, at a electronics products company with global operations. 
  • Demonstrated ability in leading S&OP processes effectively. 
  • Proven ability to conduct complex, quantitative and statistical analyses complimented with qualitative inputs from multiple sources to draw conclusions and make recommendations. 
  • Requires in-depth understanding of relevant demand drivers and how to apply the appropriate forecasting method to predict their impact in ongoing forecasts. 
  • Project management experience and familiarity with common ERP systems is preferred, especially SAP. 
  • Position requires a high level proficiency with MS Excel, reporting software (i.e. SAP/BW), and strong Word and PowerPoint skills. 
  • Familiar with implementing key performance metrics as a basis for process improvement.
  • Should be equally comfortable building consensus across different functions, cultures and management levels as in completing detailed analyses. 
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills. 
  • A commitment to and a passion for continuous improvement. 
  • Bias toward fact based decision making across multiple planning horizons.
