Position Summary:

 

This position is within HARMAN’s Lifestyle Audio Group located in Northridge. The primary role is to manage the new product introduction of luxury audio loudspeakers. As a member of our team, the successful candidate will leverage Harman's engineering, procurement, quality and supply chain teams to expedite product development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the internal and external product development activities within Luxury Audio space.
  • Manage cross-functional development teams through a phase gate New Product Introduction development process.
  • Manage project timelines (Gantt) task based schedules.
  • Ensure accurate product documentation for in-house and ODM supplier designs.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, establishing action items and due dates for activities of Acoustics Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Supplier, etc.
  • Act as Team Leader and spokesperson (in conjunction with Management) as final arbitrator in Team decisions
  • Act as main communication interface between supplier and the internal development team.
  • Ensure product collaterals such as photo samples, carton artwork, user manuals and other product literature are developed, reviewed and released for production.
  • Coordinate timely submission of Safety Agency samples on electronic items.
  • Support Supplier's personnel in planning and completing their Design Verification (DV), Process Verification (PV) and Production runs.
  • Provide regular project reports showing status of each program in development.
  • Track progress of cost, budget and timing for each program, reporting any variances and suggesting ways to bring program back to plan.
  • Ensure product concept is preserved, requested performance and application requirements of the product are met, and appearance and packaging standards are adhered to.
  • Continuously monitor risks proactively, identify risks and coordinate meetings with multi-discipline functions to address risks before they become issues.
  • Co-ordinate with suppliers on roadmap and discussions as needed.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, Electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of previous project management experience in the consumer audio products industry.
  • Proven history of achieving on time product delivery and project budgeting.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a globally distributed matrixed organization, occasional international travel is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to influence technical, leadership and sales based audiences.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of speakers, transducers and/or audio systems (perhaps as a hobby interest) is desirable but not required.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites, including international travel (<10%)
  • Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA
