Position Summary:

This position is within HARMAN’s Lifestyle Audio Group located in Northridge. The primary role is to design and develop new luxury audio loudspeakers. The successful candidate will leverage Harman's acoustic technology leadership in order to create the best sounding loudspeakers in the world. As a member of our team, you will assist with hands-on design, assembly, test and troubleshooting of transducers and prototype loudspeaker assemblies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use the latest software tools to design transducers and loudspeaker systems for the home and home theater environment.
  • Constructs, tests, and troubleshoots prototype and pre-production loudspeakers and subassemblies using schematics, parts lists or verbal instructions and established testing guidelines and reports progress back to the appropriate Program Manager.
  • Acoustical system testing and validation of Supplier’s Design Verification (DV), Process Verification (PV) and Production runs.
  • Supports GPLMs and Sr. Director of Product Management in development of new products and sustaining engineering.
  • Investigates new audio related technologies, acoustic systems tools, and best practices.
  • Supports and facilitates product listening demonstrations for dealers, sales and marketing, as well as assisting in competitive benchmarking.
  • Research and create novel solutions to issues in acoustic systems. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics or related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated involvement in research, technology development, and cutting edge innovation all throughout the academic curriculum via TAs, RAs, and internships
  • Exceptional reputation as an innovator based on having created forward looking research, projects, and award winning publications

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the audio industry, technology industry or automotive industry
  • Working knowledge of speakers, transducers and/or audio systems (perhaps as a hobby interest) is desirable but not required.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites, including international travel (<10%)
  • Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
