Position Summary:

The Accountant position will be responsible for applying principles of accounting to perform a variety of functions in accordance with standard procedures in general accounting, general ledger maintenance, cash management, accounts receivable and/or related financial areas.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial month-end close process for a specific business unit.
  • Liaison with Financial Shared Service center and other business units.
  • Fixed asset accounting that includes the coordination of asset forms for capitalizing and disposing of assets with the Financial Shared Service center to ensure all transactions are being posted correctly in the fixed asset sub-ledger. Generating fixed asset physical inventory reports and coordinating that an audit has been completed.
  • Generate capital spending reports for business units and divisions. Track actual spending as well as future commitments. Create the internal orders necessary for capturing the data for this reporting.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process by providing detail which supports the bottoms up analysis including providing depreciation expense as it relates to existing assets, CIP, and future capital spending.
  • Support divisions in all aspects of cash management, including loan balance reconciliation to corporate, cash posting entries to the General Ledger, intercompany netting transactions and cash/loan balance forecasting for plan purposes.
  • Prepare and post monthly entries to ensure that financial reports reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information to support operations.
  • Complete monthly key balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accurate financial statements are being reported.
  • Review and analyze monthly and trended spending reports for the functional departments.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly and year-end audit schedules submitted through BPC for corporate financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist with completing schedules for the annual corporate tax package.
  • Create vendor master records with appropriate documentation including obtaining W-9 information; to support the disbursements function of the financial shared services center.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related degree.
  • 3 + years of related experience, preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Experience should include preparation of financial statements (including subsidiary consolidations), corporate tax compliance, budget preparation experience, and some cost accounting experience.
  • Must read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred

  • Willingness to travel less than 10% of the time.
