Huemen Design:

HARMAN has always placed great value on the design and execution of its products and services. In 2018, the three internal design groups across the 4 divisions were reorganized into a single agency-model design organization. This design organization is named “Huemen”. Huemen will continue to deliver and lead the world-class design across all of HARMAN in the disciplines of Industrial Design (ID), User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX), as well Marketing Services and Future Experiences in Auto and Home.

 

Position Summary:

Huemen is looking for an Art Director on a new team focused on all creative efforts for the Harman portfolio of global audio brand which includes JBL, Harman/Kardon, and AKG. The Art Director will be responsible for the visual expression across all static and digital initiatives for our clients and our internal agency partners. He/She will work with the team lead to concept and build out beautiful and culturally relevant creative for multiple cross platform campaigns across several brand categories: Print, web, mobile, social, retail, events, etc. The Art Director will lead and mentor a team of graphic designers across initiatives and be responsible for creative and visual output across projects.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This role will help build and lead a creative team with 5 direct reports
  • This team will be focused on servicing Harman marketing efforts and elevating the marketing services offering within Huemen.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and motivate graphic designers to develop breakthrough creative products
  • Create the visual expression for all Harman brand campaigns and creative initiatives
  • Develop and maintain visual tone, consistency, and quality across all internal and consumer facing communications
  • Self-motivated, well organized, and up to challenges of ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines for a variety of brands and initiatives
  • Successfully translate ideas into print, retail, social, video, web, and promotions
  • Have the ability to demonstrate effective work in multiple formats including but not limited to mobile applications, social media applications, rich format advertising, standard format advertising, websites/microsites, emails, and retail applications
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead to lead to inspire and lead the visual team for digital, print, and direct promotional activations
  • Work with designers, user experience architects, and marketers to achieve the vision (a flexible attitude to collaboration is essential)
  • Adopt responsibility for Huemen agency-wide initiatives that enhance and encourage the growth of talent and networks to bring new talent to agency
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload and exercise time management skills
  • Supports/facilitates the mandatory adherence to Huemen’s requirements, processes and procedures 

 

Performance Measurement:

This role will be measured on:

  • Strength and delivery of campaigns and creative
  • Project delivery on time and on budget

 

Position Requirements:

  • Multi-platform experience is a must
  • Minimum of 2 years. at Art Director level leading and directing designers
  • 8+ years design experience with a top-notch visual aesthetic
  • Strong strategic and ideation/conceptual abilities—demonstrated ability to translate client message into effective communications across full range of creative disciplines (print, TV/video, radio, social, web, mobile, etc.) 
  • Superior presentation skills with the ability to persuade and inform, while maintaining agency standards and strategic point-of-view 
  • Ability to recognize, develop and enhance concepts developed by staff and directs their translation across all channels 
  • Should be aware of the mobile landscape and stay current on the rapid changes in social media and communications technology 
  • Must have Finesse and emotional intelligence to engage clients, listen carefully, and have reasoned and persuasive answers
  • Must demonstrate a fresh and culturally relevant perspective on design & innovation, and the ability to understand and translate the latest pop culture, fashion, graphic, and design trends into creative marketing outputs
  • Have amastery of typography, layout and general design principals
  • Must be industry aware: current events, trends, and general advertising culture 
  • Fluent verbal and written English essential; other languages desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience from a client service organization
  • Consumer electronics industry experience
  • A design focused degree is a plus

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Domestic and Global travel (5-10%)
  • Employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
