Position Summary:

The Manager of New Business Development position will be  part of the Corporate R&D organization within HARMAN.  The candidate will focus on creating new business opportunities for the technologies developed within the organization and identifying new product development applications by pro-actively engaging with academina, start-ups, tech companies and government organizations.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have any direct reports. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Seek and cultivate new qualified R&D opportunities consistent with Corporate strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Build, expand and maintain active contacts in academina, start-ups, tech companies and government agencies.
  • Work with internal business unit stakeholders to align on new business opportunities and participate in strategic planning activities.
  • Coordinate technology marketing efforts for external trade shows and internal events.
  • Interface with Corporate Marketing and Communication teams  to increase and improve our brand awareness  as a technology company and to increase demand for new applications with customers in core or adjacent markets.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • MBA with Bachelor’s Degree in a engineering related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years experience.
  • Creative and Critical thinker with strong business acumen and relationship management skills.
  • Ideal candidate should have proficient computer experience (Excel, Access, Word, Internet, Power Point).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with transition from R&D prototype to product.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work in an office in Mountain View, CA.
