Position Summary:

HARMAN is seeking a business-minded Corporate Counsel (f/m/d) with an entrepreunerial spirit to play a primary role in managing global, commercial transactions for Harman’s Connected Services and Professional Solutions divisions. The candidate must have applicable experience, excellent business judgment and strategic thinking and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced global team environment. This position will be based in our Apsley/ London, United Kingdom office and will report to the Senior Directors, Associate General Counsel, for Harman Connected Services and Harman Professional Solutions.


Job Responsibilities:.

  • Manage a wide range of transactional matters, including contract review, drafting and negotiation, with a primary focus on support of the commercial sales organization
  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating various agreements including – NDAs, Letters of Intent/MoUs, product sales, inbound/outbound software licenses, services engagements (time and materials, fixed bid, outsourcing operation centers), teaming, distribution, sponsorship, promotion/marketing and other commercial agreements and arrangements
  • Ability to review and interpret legal and contractual obligations
  • Responsible to maintain standard forms of agreements
  • Manage contracts database and workflows
  • Create and present applicable company-wide training programs
  • Assist with development and maintenance of legal databases and handling document control matters.
  • Manage projects as assigned, including policies, compliance, employment, risk management, privacy, export/import, real estate and other legal issues


Basic Required Qualifications:

  • At least five years of relevant experience; in-house experience is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of sales and services arrangements in a range of industries including retail, automotive, mobile, hardware and software
  • Ability to interact comfortably with executives and senior management; strong verbal and analytical skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; highly team-oriented; a commitment to professionalism; a sense of humor; an open mind; flexibility as to the types of projects assigned; solid business acumen; willingness to work in an unstructured environment; willingness to work outside of normal business hours; and the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
  • Ability to use sound and balanced legal judgment in a high pressure, high volume environment.
  • Ability to independently and effectively manage a substantial workload in cooperation with and support of other company members on a variety of time-sensitive legal matters
  • Strategic legal thinking and capability of arriving at sound conclusions and practical legal solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding of intellectual property law and concepts
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Excellent organization, communication and writing skills
  • Professionalism and good humor
  • Admission in good standing under the local Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority or Bar Association
  • Willingness to undertake some occasional domestic and international travel in support of responsibilities
