Senior Expert Augmented Reality Head-up Display (m/f)

  • Profound expertise in the design and specification of optical components for AR-HUDs including aspheric/flat mirrors, anti-reflective/hard coatings, polarized components, Picture Generating Units (PGUs), prisms, and more
  • Define and take responsibility for optical concept development of AR-HUD according to premium car OEM specifications in RFI, RFQ and project development
  • Lead execution of feasibility studies including tolerance management, sun load simulations and discuss results with OEMs
  • Experience with different PGU technologies and suppliers
  • Lead the evaluation of emerging and disruptive HUD technologies
  • Use optical ray tracing software (ASAP and LucidShape) to validate design.
  • Write and Maintain Zemax Macros for studies of the HUD optical system.
  • Write and Maintain CATIA power copies for optical evaluation.
  • Support development of a test equipment for optical properties of HUDs.
  • Consult in Optical design of TFT back light units (BLUs), light guides for optical sensors and surfaces using SPEOS.
  • Work with cross-functional teams for engineering and program management along with participating in design reviews with customers and engineering peers.


  • University degree in Physics, Optics Engineering or related field

  • > 8 years of experience as an optical expert for HUD in automotive products

  • Very good understanding of Geometric, Imaging, and Diffraction Optics

  • Understanding of image processing and warping in HUDs

  • Good Knowledge of Thermal Management

  • Experience with CATIA, Zemax, SPEOS, ProE Wildfire and Creo 2.0 SW are preferred.

  • Willingness to travel
