Position Summary: Briefly describe the primary purpose and function of this position.

 

The Materials and Logistics Manager is responsible for directing and managing all material movement and material flow within the plant facility, including: production & supplier planning, materials procurement, customer service, receiving, shipping, warehousing, inventory control, and inventory accuracy. The successful candidate will maintain inventory accuracy and the end-to-end processes related to warehouse management, inventory handling, inventory control and accuracy, storage, receiving, shipping, excess & obsoletes, and the continuous improvement of these processes.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Please indicate the number of direct reports and/or number of indirect reports.

 

This position interacts with site staff managers/directors and does have multiple direct reports: 

 

  • Materials Planner Manager
  • Customer Service Manager
  • Materials Planner Manager

  • Accountable for the development of demand and supply chain decision modeling for Queretaro.  Identifying opportunities to optimize total cost of ownership. Including freight savings, excess & obsolescence risk, inventories, packaging and capacities.
  • Lead the development of production plans that maximize installed capacity and provide flexibility to the overall operation to comply with customer demand, or, if applicable trigger improvements required to operations.
  • Accountable for overall performance and quality of the operations plant, warehouses, receiving, shipping and inventory control including proactively mitigating risks to the operations.
  • Maintain 3PL and freight provider performance and relationships; must be able to develop relationships and interface with senior level supplier representatives.
  • Chairs sustained customer schedule recovery crisis planning and leads customer communications for the plant.
  • Develop, recommend, and affectively execute advanced logistics and warehousing strategies in support of new and existing business objectives.
  • Appraise service levels across assigned facilities, suppliers and stores; and provide guidance to address gaps identified in product supply performance.
  • Measure product handling fees and develop cost-saving initiatives for alternatives regarding packaging, palletizing, and shipping processes.
  • Accountable for the overall accuracy of the SAP database at assigned facility.
  • Oversee the existing and continued development of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Continuous Replenishment Programs (CRP).
  • Collaborate with Corporate, Group and cross-functional personnel, both domestic and global, to ensure alignment of key strategic objectives.
  • Effectively communicate team’s progress and value to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and management of 3PL and transportation supplier performance, inventory metrics, on-time delivery, dock-to-stock and the cash-to-cash cycle.
  • Prepare annual department budgets, and establish controls to maintain objectives.
  • Develop, set, and maintain key performance indicators. (Scorecards).
  • Demonstrate effective leadership techniques to keep the material team attaining goals.
  • Applies HPS techniques as a key base to running the material management organization.

 

 

Basic Qualifications: List the minimum and desired education (including degrees, licenses, certification or registrations) and experience needed to perform the key responsibilities of the position.

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in the area of materials with a minimum of 3 years’ experience on a senior supervisory responsibility
  • Supplier & Production planning experience.
  • Achievement oriented, analytical and possess advanced Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively up, down and sideways within a matrix environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions; proven experience negotiating with freight and logistics providers
  • Knowledge and participation in Six Sigma activities, including participation in Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and other continuous improvement activities
  • Experience in electronics industry (preferably automotive) and direct customer relationships
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; counseling; rewarding and disciplining employees
  • English 90%, Advance English level (reading and writing that allow fluid presentations)
  • Knowledge on country Logistics & Customs Compliance requirements.

Position Summary:

 

Materials Manager would be able to plan, coordinate and monitor the transfer of goods and materials from manufacturers and suppliers all the way through to customers. You might oversee the whole process from beginning to end or you may work in part of the supply chain, also be involved in brand and marketing planning to make sure what is being promised can be delivered.

Supply chains are made up of different operations, which include everything from forecasting trends and buying through to transport and distribution. Leading process: Wharehosing, Production Control, Materials Planning, Shipping, Logistics & Customer Service.

  • Look at ways to improve supply chain networks.
  • Monitor overall performance to make sure targets are being met using KPI and metrics.
  • Prepare forecasts and inventories for reports to the company's management team.
  • Recruit, train and manage a team of supply chain staff.
  • Participates and provides support related with quality systems management, objectives, targets and programs.
