Acoustic Systems Engineer (m/f)

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and continuously improve noise management systems and technologies working with OEM platform teams
  • Apply Harman Active Noise Control technologies to solve vehicle NVH issues
  • Design and conduct trade-off studies to influence the design of vehicle noise management systems
  • Participate in engineering product design teams to ensure on-time delivery of Active Noise Control products that exceed customer expectations
  • Perform ANC system testing of prototype systems and new products on bench and in-vehicle
  • Use, maintain and improve best practices and design standards via the Lessons Learned process and the knowledge base
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for requirements
  • Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department manager
  • Provide technical support and guidance for customers´ and interdepartmental issues as required
  • Travel to customers and other Harman sites (approx. 40% of the time)

 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred, with an emphasis on DSP and/or Acoustics
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Acoustics and/or NVH
  • Specific experience with vehicle NVH
  • Profound knowledge of noise cancellation, signal processing, acoustical engineering and/or psycho-acoustics
  • Experience with measurement and analysis tools such as PAK, ArtemiS, or LMS
  • Experience in the use of microphones and accelerometers for acoustic and vibration measurements
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems including bus technology such as CAN
  • Knowledge of electronics laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators)
  • Extended knowledge of simulation tools and programming languages (e.g. Matlab, C, C++)
  • Demonstrated ability in working with embedded systems (coding, compiling, flashing)
