Manager, Hardware Development (m/f)

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintaining Harman’s industry leadership in consistent delivery of excellent technology and keeping highest level of operational discipline
  • Support and refine a HW development process in line with the global Engineering organization, capable of supporting multiple development locations and both internal and external resources
  • Hire, mentor, develop, and retain a competent and engaged hardware engineering staff to meet personal, professional, and corporate objectives
  • Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment to motivate staff while driving process improvement and innovative solutions
  • Ensure staff has the proper equipment, tools, training, and resources to accomplish assigned tasks within defined processes and procedures, while adhering to appropriate budgets
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external suppliers, responsible for non-core development activities and/or providing temporary capacity
  • Technical and disciplinary lead of a part of the HW Engineering Team
  • Observe and control all in the group assigned projects and development tasks and contents regarding fulfillment of time schedule, quality and platform conformity
  • Development and supervising the development of hardware technology in the group assigned expert functions [e.g. DC/DC converters, audio output power stages, MCU, SOC, DSP, etc.]
  • Development of new innovative hardware-systems according to the approved project / development task requirements
  • Observation of the fulfillment of  the project/development task related milestones
  • Observation of the fulfillment of the required quality level and content of the project / development tasks
  • Support in communication with OEMs for technical status, project progress and product alignment
  • Employee goal setting and assessment
  • Resource planning

Requirements:

 

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline. MBA and/or PMP certification preferred
  • Ideally 5 to 10 years related experience in comparable leadership position
  • Consolidated knowledge in hardware components and connection of several HW components
  • Know-how and experience in HW/SW interfacing
  • Know-how and experience in automotive ECU manufacturing
  • Know-how and experience in the mechanical integration of hardware components
  • Must have strong strategic, analytical, and project planning skills
  • Ability to drive action through influence is critical
  • Project management and/or product development experience in the Automotive Electronics and Audio Systems desired
  • Ability to manage teams at multi locations
  • Fundamental knowledge in terms of methodologies in project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
  • Must be able to articulate vision and influence decision making / outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and the customer
  • Proven and effective communication, analytical, judgment, initiative and execution skills
  • Passionate about Audio
