(Senior) Principal Engineer ADAS/AD Data Management (m/f/d)

We are extending our ADAS/AD BU, which is working on the most disruptive innovations and new technologies in the context of the advanced driver assistant and autonomous car.

As an expert for ADAS/AD data fusion, you will work within Harman’s ADAS/AD BU team, as a key driver behind the research, development, implementation and evaluation of algorithms in one or more of the following fields, relevant for ADAS products and automated vehicles:

  • Manipulation of large-scale geo-referenced data sets
  • Multi-modal car sensor data fusion and data aggregation
  • Environmental modeling


Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Design and realization of building a scalable, cloud based data processing and management platform which will be behind some of the most luxurious automotive brand names
  • Be a key driver behind the cloud based applications that drives Harman Connected Car products for ADAS and AD
  • Working with a great variety of cloud native applications and frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Cassandra, etc
  • Deploy scalable data management solutions to hosting environments such as AWS or Azure at various locations globally
  • Implement most challenging parts of the georeferenced data processing and data analytics SW, including modules to serach and augment the data
  • Hands-on devops programming to create code in portable, modular, high performance code; self-explanatory code style; documentation; ability to lead SW development by example.
  • Provide solutions (design and code) for near real time data processing, while a safe and secure processing must be ensured at all times
  • Enrich the existing team by your broad expertise in cloud platforms and services as well as big data real-time and batch processing/analytics/learning. Analyze, improve and optimize complex, distributed algorithms for big data processing and management
  • Elaborate component design, concepts, algorithms, and architecture for new features from future road map in area big-car-data analytics


Required Skills:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or similar qualification
  • Ability to write excellent code using different programming languages such as Java, c++, Python
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud aware SW architecture and desing
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development in the area of data lakes, data mining, big data analysis, and/or deep learning algorithms
  • Experience with time-dependend data processing, streaming protocols, event sourcing and platform as a service / function as a service is highly desirable
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, big data frameworks (Hadoop, Apache Spark or similar), and distributed storages (Hive, Cassandra or similar)
  • Team spirit and excellent communication skills
  • English fluently written and spoken
  • Experience with georeferenced data or automotive / autonomous driving is a plus

  • Experience with (vehicle) sensor data, like video, radar, sonar, lidar, or traffic management data is a plus

  • Willingness to travel
