Position Summary:

HARMAN’s diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices.  As a member of our team, your primary role will be to perform hand-on analyses of electronic products to ensure the quality of electronic hardware, electronic components, and electronic manufacturing processes etc. By working in as many projects as time allows, you can enhance your general knowledge in electronics and your hands-on skills in analytical equipment and methods.

 

Job Responsibilities:

1. To learn and master basic skills in analytical equipment and methods in a failure analysis lab environment, including (but not limited to) optical microscope, X-ray radiography, cross-section, etc. After this first step, you can then work on Items 2-4:

2. To perform construction analyses of electronic components and understand their principal, design and material structure;

3. To perform product analysis to evaluate electronics manufacturing processes;

4. To perform in-depth evaluations of electronic products after validation tests;

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited institution in the Sophmore year or later, working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering field, e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering etc.
  • Must have taken college-level courses in Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering
  • Must have entry-level work experience in a Chemistry/Materials/Electronics Laboratory
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to various management levels
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2019 through August 9, 2019 and be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work, highly prefer candidates who live within a commutable distance
  • Willingness to work in an office in Farmington Hills, MI
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
