Position Summary:

This position seeks a senior level procurement professional to be  responsible for global category strategy development and continuous improvement execution.   The individual will be a key contributor to the future competitiveness in major direct material  categories for all divisions  by analyzing  current and new products and identifying  new sourcing opportunities.  This role will report to the Sr. Director Direct Material Category Leader.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with HARMAN Category Leaders (HCL) to  develop category strategies that support the overall strategy of the business and deliver best in class results
  • Analyze category markets and assess risk, gathering intelligence on fundamental conditions and technical information that impact the category
  • Evaluate and make an initial determination the need to second source based on nature of material and underlying supply chain in terms of qualified vendors available
  • Analyze Supplier spend data to determine  qualification, negotiation and final selection
  • Signature authority for contracts, blanket purchase orders, framework agreements or any other similar written agreements  in accordance with contract approval criteriaelect suppliers and finalize negotiations based upon parameters determined by Delegation of Authority
  • Responsible and accountable for the policies and procedures used by the global category teams for implementing strategy
  • Provide expertise in supplier relationship management.  Responsible for delivering on best practices for supplier selection and approvals, RFx, contracts terms and conditions and negotiation approaches

 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Engineering or Business Management
  • Requires at least 7-10 years of professional experience in procurement and category management with a deep understanding of strategy development.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop sourcing and negotiation strategies that meet established goals and timelines
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to manage global teams and projects.
  • Proven track record of implementing effective sourcing strategies
  • Epertise translating complex data into a clear and consise communication.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively at a senior executive level

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Masters degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or related discipline. 
  • Previous experience working in a multinational company

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 10-15%.
  • Willingness to work in a office located in Budapest, Hungary.
