Functional Safety Engineer

Position Summary:          

The Functional Safety Engineer will be part of a team responsible for all activities of ISO 26262 Safety-Lifecycle required in developing high end, embedded automotive infotainment systems.              


Job Responsibilities:        


·        Member of Project Core Team        

·        Planning and post processing of all activities of ISO 26262 Safety-Lifecycle   

  ·      Support and execution of Safety Analysis (Hazard Risk Analysis, FMEA, Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostics Coverage Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis)   

         Responsibility of functional and technical safety within project     


·        Moderation and participation of technical inspections          

·        Creation of safety plan and evidences          

·        Strong collaboration and cooperation with Program Manager, Developer and Customer              

·        Support projects with Functional Safety requirements           

·        Coordination of Quality methods in the project       

·        Ensure process compliancy within the development project              

·        Ensure project compliance with ISO26262, demonstration of risks along product development / product life cycle             


Other responsibilities specific to the occupational safety and health:

               ·        Becomes acquainted with and applies correctly the legislation, the general and specific norms in the field of occupational safety and health and the different procedures in accordance with the specific nature of the workplace;

               ·        Attends the periodical training in the field of occupational safety and health and in the field of the fire prevention and extinction;

               ·        Carries out his/her activity at the workplace in compliance with the occupational safety and health norms, the fire prevention and extinction norms, the health and individual hygiene norms at the workplace;

               ·        Knows the risk factors and the professional diseases specific to the workplace;

               ·        Identifies the dangers arising at the workplace and reports them to the person competent to take measures, according to specific procedures at the workplace;

               ·        Observes emergency and evacuation procedures and indicates possible accidents by promptly contacting the corresponding emergency services;

               ·        Uses the work equipment correctly;

               ·        Communicates immediately to the employer and/or appointed workers/ internal/external department for prevention and protection any labor situation he/she has grounded reasons to regard as a danger for the safety and health of the workers, as well as any deficiency of the protection systems;

               ·        Notifies to the management of the company and/or the hierarchical superior accidents suffered by his/her own person;

               ·        Cooperates with the employer and/or appointed workers/internal/external department for prevention and protection in order to facilitate the accomplishment of any measures or requirements ordered by labor and sanitary inspectors, for the protection of the workers’ health and safety;

               ·        Cooperates with the employer and/or appointed workers/internal/external department for prevention and protection in order to allow the employer to ensure safe work environment and work conditions, without any risks for safety and health, in his/her field of activity;

               ·        Ensures the provision of information requested by labor and sanitary inspectors.


Basic qualifications:       

         Extensive experience in Automotive Engineering and Development as well as experience in Functional Safety implementation       

·        Extensive knowledge on System, Hardware and Software    

·        Experience in creation of safety concepts and analysis (FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, HARA)  

·        Experience with standards for Quality Management Systems             

·        Experience in product development process (e.g.: ASPICE 2.x or 3.x)              

·        Profound knowledge in ISO 26262 and IEC 61508, including legal aspects     

·        Experience in creation of project safety plan             

·        Ability to work independently          

·        Strong skills in communication, presentation and problem solving (customer and internal)              

·        Flexible and autonomous working with global interfaces      

·        English business fluent, German appreciated            



Preferred Qualifications:              


·        Bachelor degree in the Engineering field and certified Functional Safety Manager    

         Experience in automotive / infotainment systems   

·        Knowledge of project management (collecting requirements and defining project scope, estimating activities resources and duration, develop/manage project team, control product quality, risk management and status reporting)

              • Willingness to travel (0-20% of time) depending on the project necessities
