Principal Engineer, SW - Navigation, C++

Position Summary:

As a Sw. Architect, you will be part of integrated global team in Harman, behind the premium navigation engine that power some of the most luxurious automotive brand names and is currently installed in millions of vehicles. You will be working on complex problems and will be responsible for architecture, design, development and optimization of the navigation core and related technologies, which will have great impact on the overall Harman connected car products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be a key driver behind the navigation core
  • Drive technical solutions, architecture and designs of our premium Navigation engine
  • Experienced in creation of high quality cross platform reusable software.:       
  • Develop prototypes and execute feasibility studies
  • Work with architects, engineers, designers, testers and managers in multiple locations as needed to help integrate and productize the solution
  • Create and document the system and software architecture
  • Perform code reviews and other activities to ensure high-quality results
  • Participate and drive solutions to programs that may be in critical phases, be flexible and open to support any activity requiring technology consultations.
  • Stay up to date with current trends and changes in technology


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or similar education
  • 10+ years of experience in C \ C++ preferably with exposure to embedded systems
  • Hands on experince on Navigation Core (routing, guidance, map view, DB etc.)  is a must
  • Ability to design modules that will meet the requirements of today and scale to work in conjunction with modules adding new functionality in the future
  • Automotive background preferable
  • Well versed in design patterns
  • Strong in RTOS skills (QNX/Linux) and proficient in real time multi threaded software design and development
  • Exposure to cross platform development frameworks
  • Deep knowledge of embedded device constraints and how to root cause or debug issues through the entire SW development life cycle
  • Experience in system performance optimization
  • Exposure to Android internals is preferable
  • Familiar with Agile development methodologies and test driven development
  • Self motivated, result driven individual, must be passionate about the work
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
