Engineering Manager - Android HMI

Essential Responsibilities:


1. Lead a team of 15 or more developers for delivering Android based HMI solutions for Infotainment systems.

2. Interact with internal and external customers for smooth & timely delivery of Multimedia products.

3. Coordinate with various stakeholders of different domains for integrating HMI solutions

4. Technically guide the team to speed up the development process.

5. Own and drive the adaptation of software development quality process.

6. Effective participation in initiatives for achieving organizational goals of engineering quality.

7. Involve in design, develop, debug, and test software in a real-time, networked, embedded multiprocessor environment.

8. Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and help the team to translate these into software designs.

9. Analyze existing embedded software to add features, make modifications, fix bus, and/or port to different platforms.

10. Help the team to test software designs and code at the unit and system level in order to ensure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is delivered.

11. Participate in internal and customer driven design reviews throughout program.

12. Identify product requirement or performance issues. Work with domain manager and team members to find optimal solution.

13. Communicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate software development. This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups.

14. Manage overall HMI project and technical resources, including planning, estimating and follow through.


Basic Qualifications:


1. 12+ years of experience in Android HMI products development for Embedded systems

2. Excellent track record in working with Java for Embedded Systems

3. RTOS experience and development on Infotainment, Audio and Multimedia products.

4. Working knowledge of software development tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers, etc).

5. Working knowledge of software development processes.

6. Working knowledge of embedded operating systems.

7. Experience working in a highly Agile distributed team.

8. A strong technical engineer who is equally adept at both development as well as project & people management.

9. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.



Desired Characteristics:


1. Working knowledge with Android HMI & Frameworks for latest flavors.

2. Experience in working knowledge with various Tuner features development

3. Strong exposure with Android HMI features development for Infotainment systems

4. Development experience with android framework.

5. Sound working knowledge with CAN signals & Projection Services like Android Auto, Apple Carplay etc.

6. Strong attention to detail.

7. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

8. Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing complex software defects.

9. Capable project management and time management skills.

10. Experience with using ALM tools (e.g. Rally, Jira, etc) for project planning, management, tracking and communication.
