Position Summary: 

Champion Software Configuration Management  and Build & Integration activities for Infotainment Programs. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.


Job Responsibilities:

  • As a Software Configuration Management Engineer, One will support system developers by handling development related software configuration management (SCM) tasks.
  • Duties will include daily interaction and communication with the development team to coordinate SCM activities; merging, labeling, and building development source code; creating and enhancing tools and scripts; reviewing existing SCM processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with and gathering input from management and lead developers to implement process enhancements and improvements; acting as a resource for developers, and providing guidance and training on tools and process as needed; evaluating tools to support SCM process, and providing recommendations for implementation.
  • Front line for resolving build and functional breakages (based on the build logs and auto-smoke test results) Working knowledge of software development tools (debugger's, compilers, etc).
  • May direct the work of 1-2 other engineers.
  • As the first member of the build & integration team in QRO, candidate will work with local HR to find, hire, and train additional resources for the build and integration and pre-integration test teams.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience using Git to support the workflow of software development projects on Windows and Linux Systems.
  • Experience using Git to manage multiple parallel development streams and release repositories by means of branching, staging, merging and tagging.
  • 5+ years of embedded software development or testing.
  • 2+ years of Perl, HTML, GNU make, Jenkins, Artifactory, Git, and shell-scripting.
  • 2+ years experience in Static Analysis Tools, Code Coverage Tools, Unit Test Tools, Open Source Compliance Tools and integration with Build systems.
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
  • Expertise in following areas
    • Issue Tracking integrated with Git repository possibly JIRA
    • Build Artifact management
    • Build Automation
    • Android build system knowledge, new product bring-up, set-up baselines, integrating third-party deliverables.
    • Continuous integration
    • Continuous deployment Jenkins for example
    • Test tool integration
    • Familiarity with other software version control
  • Preferred skills include knowledge of Java and C/C++ development experience.
