Position Summary:

The Control Software Platform Owner leads the strategy, development, and implementation of the Texas Instruments J6 software platform to meet the goals of the organization. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Control Software Platform Owner will directly and/or indirectly lead a global product development team of approximately 10-25 people.  Project management and engineering teams are primarily located in Bangalore, India and Suzhou, China. 



  • Responsible to deliver a flexible, scalable, and high quality Texas Instruments J6 SOC (DSP) software platform to be used on automotive amplifier products.
  • Interfaces and aligns with the Global Product Management department to make sure that the platform implementation roadmaps are compliant to strategic product management decisions
  • Ensure that all µC product delivery actions stay within budget, quality and time constraints
  • Serves as an escalation path for all deviations to the µC platform delivery plan and derives corrective actions for staying within SW platform demands
  • Ensures that the Global Car Audio µC SW platform is in alignment with the Car Audio µC HW platform both on Pre-configured products as well as on fully customized projects based on building blocks
  • Align with the Global System department to define the best possible µC SW platform and adapt for the needs of customization projects
  • Takes responsibility for flawless integration of all µC SW platform elements, especially the third-party software modules, Inter-Processor Communication, Complex Drivers and Abstraction Layers and the applications from the application layer
  • Take responsibility for creating µC platform roadmaps best serving the feature demand of customization projects
  • Ensure that all µC SW platform products are delivered in alignment with the needs of the internal customers
  • Represents the µC SW platform towards all levels of managements of the GPDC and REC
  • Leads the execution of µC platform projects by steering a development team with both solid lines as well as dotted line reporting in hybrid matrix organization
  • Take responsibility that all teams are staffed according to the needs of Platform Product delivery
  • Interfaces to the management of customers for all µC platform related topics
  • Make sure that the µC platform optimizes the time to market KPI of new features
  • Make sure µC platform development is executed against highest coding and execution standards complaint to ASPICE levels up to 3
  • Approves official µC platform releases into customer projects
  • Manages internal SW testing and optimizes the KPIs for platform product quality
  • Aligns with SW validation to ensure adequate staffing of platform validations


Qualification and experience:

  • Degree in Technical Studies, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experienced with product development of complex electronic systems including embedded software
  • 10+ years experience in automotive embedded SW development and/or audio DSP software development
  • Experience with software development in multicore DSP’s or SOC’s
  • Experience in Product Management of SW products is an advantage
  • Execellent communication skills towards all levels of management including customer management
  • 10+ years experience in working in international teams, especially out of India, China, Europe and North America
  • 10+ years experience in platform based SW development
  • 5+ years experience in leading teams >10 members
  • 5+ years experience in the execution of multiple parallel projects
  • Fundamental knowledge of software architecture and design
  • Excellent knowledge of software development using C
  • Knowledge in one of the following areas or similar complex systems and technologies is required: Embedded systems, Infotainment solutions, Multiprocessor architecture, Multimedia products (Knowledge in DOORS, JIRA, PROCOM and/or EA is an advantage)
  • Knowledge of audio communication bus architectures like Ethernet/AVB, A2B, MOST, etc
  • Good network to supplier base of tools and third party modules is an advantage


Preferred Qualifications and Behaviors:

  • Master’s in related engineering field, Ph.D. and/or MBA
  • Experienced with software development on Texas Instrument J6 SOC’s
  • Excellent knowledge of object-oriented software development using C/ C++

  • Willing to be hands on including ability to update an existing software component if necessary
  • Knowhow of modern software development process and tools (tools like JIRA, DOORs, Perforce, SVN, Git, Enterprise Architect, DOORS, ClearCase)
