What is the role?

The HR Director, is responsible for the strategic business partnership and generalist Human Resources collaboration to the Management Team of the Professional Division Companies in the EMEA Region. The role leads the HR agenda in the region ensuring that the HR partnership meets the commercial expectations and Corporate governance standards. This inspirational and seasoned individual will be agile to attend to matters arising throughout the region and provide strong HR leadership.


Direct Management Responsibilities: 

This position has 3 direct reports.    


Job Requirements:

  • Business Partnership with Senior Management team of entity to deliver exceptional business performance and under the leadership of the Vice President, Human Resources – Harman Professional Division, drive the HR agenda
  • Business Partner the change management programme; steer business partner education, development and talent mapping
  • Drives the human resource agenda for all generalist activities and ensures compliance with Harman standards, whilst addressing business challenges.
  • Energises the organisation culture, framework for action and people engagement.
  • Counsel employees and managers on people issues and problems; be the trusted confidant for senior leadership.
  • Implement new programs, including providing appropriate organisational development platforms.  Regularly monitor and review effectiveness of existing programs.
  • Steers the talent acquisition and pipeline for people in the business. Drives the Employer of Choice brand identity.
  • Oversee health and safety requirements and apply training to needs identified.
  • Develop new human resources programs to meet legal requirements and changing organizational needs.
  • Manages special needs programs such as relocation and immigration.  Assist in coordinating treatment and return to work for employees addressing ill health matters.
  • Supports the acquisition of new companies, providing due diligence activities and integration projects to business standards.
  • Ensure compliance agenda within the jurisdiction is respected at all times and that Best Practise is maintained.
  • To write Job Profiles and co-ordinate the recruitment and interviewing of new hires.
  • To undertake project work as defined by the VP Human Resources.
  • To support the Training and Development activities.
  • Provide monthly reports, data and requirements to ensure business reporting needs.
  • To partner with HR professionals globally to align business requirements and leverage in-country expertise.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required.
  • Post Graduate diploma in Human Resources or related discipline essential, must be CIPD certified
  • Strong evidence of progressive, directly-related experience in a commercial environment.
  • International HR leadership experience with EMEA.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment.
  • Experience in staffing, employee development and leadership.
  • Ability to lead an organization and provide clear direction. 
  • Strong change management and leadership skills.


Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Is computer literate in all MS Office based applications, including the experience of operating a computerised H.R. database, preferably SAP.
  • Experience on e-version people continuity activities would be advantageous.
  • Has the ability to work in a highly pressurised and demanding environment.
  • Has the ability to assimilate information quickly, efficiently and accurately from varying sources.
  • Has excellent literacy and numerical skills.
  • Additional language skills would be desirable.

Eligibility Requirements:l

  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
  • Willingness to work in an office in Apsley Hertfordshire.
