BASIC FUNCTION

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that quality and other customer quality support requirements are satisfactorily met for car audio systems supplied to Toyota. Tasks and support will span all phases of the program lifecycle; from early development, pre-production phase, launch, field quality to after-sales warranty support. The position requires close interaction and coordination between Toyota and HARMAN support teams located globally to ensure quality targets and requirements are satisfactorily fulfilled.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Maintain an expert knowledge level of Toyota quality requirements including SQAM deliverables. Ensure these requirements are clearly understood and met by HARMAN.
  2. Maintain an excellent overall knowledge of HARMAN processes, products and quality systems to ensure effective coordination and closure of quality related issues with Toyota.
  3.  Meet with Toyota representatives regularly to report corrective actions and updates about quality improvement activities. Obtain customer feedback and cascade appropriately within Harman.
  4. Champion and lead issues on returned units from Toyota. Work closely with cross-functional teams on corrective and preventive actions.  
  5. Prioritize, initiate and track issues (including return part status) to ensure they are resolved and closed in an effective and timely manner. Use Harman system tools such – SAP, JIRA and Siemens CAQ.
  6. Monitor and analyze warranty data to identify trends to establish priorities to help focus teams on specific issues. Participate in dealer scrambles, go-n-sees as required.
  7. Prepare summaries of issues and corrective action status at frequencies required by Toyota; in addition to preparing internally requested reports. Support preparation of PPM improvement plans for Toyota.
  8. Ensure that improvements to prevent defects are reflected in company products, processes and control systems (D/P-FMEA, Lesson Learned lists, Control Plans and Best Practices guidelines).
  9. Involve early in product development (PLM) cycle to ensure lessons learned from 0km and warranty issues are applied to new designs. Participate in internal and external Design Reviews (DR’s) as required.
  10. Involve in preparation of plans for site support activities for new program launches at customer assembly plants. This includes the preparation and set up of test jigs.

 

  1. Identify and prepare capital budget estimates to improve and upgrade equipment capabilities to support business requirements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:                        

Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics (preferable), Electrical Engineering or in Mechanical Engineering is required.

 

Experience:                       

A minimum of seven to ten years of domain level work experience is required preferably in the automotive sector or in the consumer electronics industries, with experience directly working in quality being required. Knowledge of high volume manufacturing production processes, electronics and assembly is required. Candidate should also have experience and capabilities to communicate and working smoothly in multi-cultural and lingual environments with overseas teams. Competent skills or aptitudes using test equipment such as oscilloscope, signal generator, multi-meter will be considered an asset. Any kind of software programming skills is also a desired skill although not absolutely required.

 

Certifications:                    

Certifications in quality engineering or in electronic diagnostics are highly desirable but not absolutely essential. 

 

Language Skills                   

Excellent proficiency to communicate comfortably and effectively in both spoken and written Japanese and English is required.

 

Other                              

Excellent PC skills using MS Office Suite is required. Domestic travel and occasional international business travel is required. A full driver’s license (Japan and International Driving Permit) is required
