Supervisory Responsibilities:

The (Senior) Industrial Designer will be reporting to: Design Director - Car Audio


As (Senior) Industrial Designer you are to

  • Design branded sound systems for cars - in close dialogue with the car manufacturer
  • Work closely with HARMAN’s engineering- , marketing -  and project management teams
  • Understand the intentions of the car manufacturer and create designs that matches and upgrades the specific car model.


  • Manage communication and tasks with the design team and stakeholders across various locations.


  • Communicate fluently in English


  • Master 2D software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign
  • Master Rhinoceros 3D software, Grasshopper plugin for parametric modelling and Keyshot rendering software. Transfer files to mechanical engineering.
  • Present the design to the car manufacturer and receive their feed back
  • Understand and design for manufacturability, time plans and cost targets.
  • Develop future brand design language strategy through a design guideline document.


  • Seek inspiration within and outside the automotive industry
  • Work concurrently with Engineering to streamline the developmental process 
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other discipline team members, customers and suppliers  Develop junior talent in the Harman Car Audio Design Team
  • Collaborate with Huemen’s Consumer Design Team to create overarching brand experiences.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Equivalent education level required BA or certificate Industrial Design. 
  • Experience required: 3+ years of industrial design experience 
  • Experience with material cost and finishes, manufacturing processes, tooling methods, assembly methods
  • Ability to communicate ideas through sketches, prototypes and photorealistic renderings 
  • Understanding of brand values and capable of translating into tangible & holistic car audio design experiences
  • Capable to adapt & create brand related design languages in correspondence to the target car interiors



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Result-orientated and a motivated team player
  • Outgoing, passionate and with an excellent sense of humor
  • Ability to communicate creative ideas at a high quality level
  • Advanced knowledge of English, other languages are a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure
