Navigating Growth Through Discomfort: Ann-Sophie's Journey at HARMAN

In every career, there's a moment when the plan takes an unexpected turn. For Ann-Sophie, that moment came the day she walked through the doors at HARMAN.

We caught a glimpse of her journey during a HARMAN Women's Network event, one of the many Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at HARMAN. Want to explore more about ERGs at HARMAN?  Read about our Employee Resource Groups at HARMAN and explore how they support employees while creating an environment where members can grow and thrive.

Looking back on her early HARMAN days, Ann-Sophie recalls how quickly her responsibilities grew. What began with accounting for Germany soon expanded to Europe and not long after, she was entrusted with global responsibilities.

How Saying "Yes" Sparked Career Growth at HARMAN

With more than 11 years of experience in finance, today she leads as Executive Director, Finance Systems, guiding transformative projects that cross borders, teams, and time zones. Her path is a story of resilience, bold choices, and a willingness to grow through discomfort.

What made the difference? She credits two things: her openness to being uncomfortable and her habit of saying "yes" even before she felt completely ready.

That mindset pushed Ann-Sophie to raise her hand for opportunities beyond her daily tasks. And this is how a leader was born. Each challenge she took on before she felt "fully ready" became a way to build confidence and sharpen her leadership skills.

Balancing Leadership and Parenthood at HARMAN

Ann-Sophie is also a mother of two, and she doesn't separate that from her leadership story. In fact, she embraces the complexity of it.

From blocking off time in her calendar for school pickups to being upfront with her team about her priorities, she believes the key is proactive transparency — not pretending everything's under control, because CFO calls while managing a sick child are not easy, but creating space for what matters is.

Uplifting Others — Quietly and Boldly

Passionate about supporting those around her in the workplace, Ann-Sophie's leadership isn't just about her own trajectory; it's about who she brings along. Behind the scenes, she's recommended women for roles, nudged decision-makers to rethink assumptions, and challenged the quiet bias of "she might not be ready."

Whether in a boardroom or a project pitch, the "Don't decide for her. Ask. Let her make the call." mindset has shaped not just her own path, but the paths of many others around her. Of course, her mission extends beyond her role in the HARMAN Women's Network.  It's about creating space and opportunities for colleagues across the board.
