Job Title: Sr. Embedded Design Engineer

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Manager, Electronics Design
Supervises: No direct reports, supervises engineering product development activities
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for designing, coding, and testing of real-time software for microcontrollers, microprocessors and other embedded devices in audio and automotive systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Performs software development for automotive infotainment products under development.
2. Coordinates product development activities with Program Manager.
3. De-bugs code in timely manner.
4. Estimates resource requirements (MIPS, program space, data space) for software at the beginning of development.
5. Creates and maintains software development plan, including flow diagrams and module definitions.
6. Follows accepted practices for software documentation and release.
7. Identifies product requirement or performance issues. Works with Program Manager to negotiate resolution.
8. Provides technical support and guidance for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental needs on an as required basis.
OTHER DUTIES:
Completes other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education BSEE, or equivalent. Experience can be substitued for some of the educational requirement. Advanced engineering degree preferred.
Experience 5+ years of embedded design.
Audio industry background highly desirable.
Automotive industry or other QS9000 compliant work experience preferred. Working Knowledge C, C++.
Experience with 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers such as Hitachi SH3, Siemens 161, and others by Fujitsu ten, Motorola, TI, etc.
Experience with real-time development tools. Experience with some of the following preferred: Rhapsody, Together, Vx Works, Tornado, CMX, Easycase.
Experience with MKS is highly preferred.
Experience with CAN, J1850, I-bus, D2B, Bluetooth, MOST, IEEE 1394 or other automotive busses highly desireable.
