SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to:  Senior Manager, Hardware Engineering
Supervises:  No direct reports, supervises engineering product development activities
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for designing audio amplifier products for automotive OEM applications. Will lead and mentor a team of engineers in the design and development of high-end Audio Amplifier Automotive products. Required expertise in all phases of an amplifier product life cycle including concept, proposal, presentation, product roadmap, research needed, design, launch, failure analysis, customer support and warranty analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Expert in high-end Audio Amplifier design for Automotive OEM applications. Produce high-quality cost effective designs. Own the amplifier designs through all phase of the life cycle of the product.
2. Design Expertise in low noise, high performance audio amplifier products. Expert in both analog and digital amplifier technology. Working knowledge of software. Reuse existing design technology where appropriate.
3. Familiar with digital (Class-D) and analog power amplifier products, DSP, microcontrollers, automotive CAN/GMLAN/MOST bus architecture, thermal design considerations, EMI/EMC, switching and linear power supplies, board layout, DFMEA and DRBFM.
4. Lead and mentor a team of amplifier engineers. Become the internal expert for amplifier design and products. Interface with customers and Sales Team on product proposal strategy.
5. Work with semiconductor manufacturers to co-develop cost effective and reliable components.

6. Engage in the development of future amplifier product and platform designs

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education BSEE minimum requirement.  Advanced engineering degree desired.
Experience 7 – 10  years Design Engineering background or Equivalent.
Automotive industry or other QS9000 compliant work experience preferred.
Working Knowledge Able to provided detailed reviews on complex/technical specifications. Broad Technical Background with general knowledge of DSP and digital circuit design, analog and digital power amplification, high-current circuit design, EMC/EMI, CAN / GMLAN / MOST digital communication busses, S/PDIF digital audio, A/D and D/A converters, schematic capture, PCB layout, and automotive environmental requirements.  Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design and real time embedded applications.
